Invitations + Signage = Stationery 2020

You have either secured your date or still browsing for one, till then you have booked your venue or pinned your dream venue, the type of flowers and the ultimate wedding dress!! But wait are you not forgetting something?

Your wedding invitations! After all, you’re going to have to invite people to see your style and snap those Instagram-worthy moments. Your venue will guide you and certainly direct the style of stationery and design you choose. You may also want to consider the current trends. So, what are the current trends, Vanisha?

This past Saturday, I attended the Industry WedLuxe 2020 Wedding Show. I was able to gain exclusive insight into 2020’s exclusive trends, concepts, designs, and treats. “The show was inspired by legendary love stories, ancient architecture, and storied inspiration rooted in a mix of fantasy meets classics,” said Angela Desveaux

The design and planning of each room were encapsulating. The rooms adorned the Nightingale Aviary, The Avalon Lounge and Athena’s Dream Portrait Garden. Scroll down to see exactly what I mean.

So…. Trends for 2020 will be similar to 2019 but EPIC

  1. Vellum Invitations – translucency with a touch of floral and botanicals. Vellum is a slightly sheer paper which can be complemented with floral cardstock or marble (another trend this year but more about it later). Vellum allows you to play with different textures and accessories such as wax seals, ribbons, Kraft rope, and foiling.

  2. Marble Invitations – think watercolor effects. Creating this look will be effortless as many colors can be incorporated into the style.

  3. Acrylic – a HUGE trend for 2019 and certainly not going anywhere for 2020 but actually on demand. From Invitations, Seating Charts, Table Numbers, Menus to Welcome Signs Find Me Lettering can custom design these for you.

  4. Luxury Calligraphy – these are custom drawn by a calligrapher (like me). This style suites contemporary couples who are looking for minimalistic typography.

  5. 2020 Pantone Colour of the Year – Classic Blue is going to be HUGE. There is so much this color has to offer, and it’s been a long time since Pantone chose a blue. Did you know this is my favorite color? This color was clearly seen at the show through flowers, accessories, desserts, and favors.

  6. Map and Venue Illustrations – what are these you ask? Well, these are bespoke wedding details that are hand-drawn. Welcome, Church, Wedding, Photography, Reception, Toast, Dinner details all depicted on a cardstock. Now do remember these are one of a kind and therefore one of a kind prices as designers do take time in building these up.

  7. Originality – what I mean is we have to get creative. Let’s not limit this to paper only. Let’s take this above and beyond. Think leather, wood, glass, linen and palm leaves. You name it and we can write on it.

Next week’s post I will cover signage and trends that are rocking my world.

with love,
Vanisha Singh
