With time on my hands, I have managed to diversify my service offering. I have managed to render my marketing expertise and offer social media management because I truly believe it is so important for the future of my business.
To simply put it, diversifying your income means that you have multiple revenue streams that filter into your business, as opposed to just one. So for instance, as a calligrapher, I strictly offer custom signage and stationery and that’s it. And while it has been totally fine for a while, there have been some downsides to having only one revenue stream, especially one that is I am dependent on.
This past month, my spring and summer clients have all cancelled and postponed leaving me with zero income. Now I am out of commission for a few months. My world came to a screeching halt all because of a pandemic (there’s an example I never thought I’d give, but here we are), and weddings and events were shut down for months, then what.
I have become vulnerable.
Over the past few months, I quietly began to put the building blocks together as I sought a better understanding of my service offering, not thinking I would be implementing it sooner than I thought.

I have become a Squarespace Designer. Squarespace has become and continues to be the cornerstone of all leading website designs. A platform that enables us to create the ideal design without the hassle of blending in.
These are just a few of the amazing things I have begun. This is a mere extension of my brand, my personality, my passion, and my business.
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s too late to start a business. You can’t use the excuse I never have time. If you take away anything from this, I hope it’s that you’ll start considering your business and what revenue stream(s) you could start adding to it to help elevate your business for the better.
