We are proud to be featured in Mike’s new book.

Would you believe it if I told you that in 2021, I walked into a bookstore and grabbed the first book that spoke to me, and it was this?

Yes it was Nina Purewal (Mike’s wife). I reached out to Nina via Instagram and raved about how this book came to me at the right time and how much of value it contained. We continued to correspond and become friends, so when she reached out to me to help Mike, I was like YES, YES, YES!!

Mike Purewal Poetry

Mike had just left the corporate industry a year prior and was on an upward trajectory but unknown. Mike shared with me two poems he had written that truly were inspiring.

Above the one that was true and felt genuine.

He has the knack for writing (maybe it’s his sales background) in the most meaningful way. He had a book in the works, and at the end of 2022, he launched to the world “On Your Way”.

Building towards his logo, Mike shared stories and his mental health journey with me through the years of corporate. It was like he re-invented himself and found purpose in life again. He requested a particular colour (would you believe it is close to the 2023 Pantone Colour of the year) and I drew this. Calligraphy had to be part of it.

Snippet about Mike

Mike Purewal worked corporate for twenty years culminating as a Vice President of Sales. In 2021, he experienced severe burnout from the intensity of his working life. He decided to leave corporate and is now an advocate for mental and physical health.

Being a #GirlDad, one of Mike’s priorities is to impact the next generation. With that, he is launching his first of many children’s books, ‘On Your Way!’ It’s a rhythmic, whimsical tale with the intent to inspire children to overcome obstacles by being adventurous, imaginative and endlessly creative. The main character (visualized as his young daughter) possesses a superhero vibe, as she explores the world both outside and inside herself by travelling to space and down to the center of the universe.

Mike is also an advocate of increasing BIPOC representation for authors and young readers. His book features children from all backgrounds, with the main character a South East Asian girl. Mike rarely saw children that looked like him represented in books.

In 2010, Mike took the road less travelled by unplugging and living in an Ashram in Northern California for a year. He studied happiness, mindfulness and became devoted to his meditation practice. This experience radically changed Mike’s outlook on life as he is following his passion of writing children’s books to spread joy and humour to young readers and parents alike!

with love,
