Over the course of the last four months, the word abundance kept appearing in front of me in multiple ways: on social media streams, in books I’m reading, in my inbox, and in conversations with friends and family.
I have never really thought about abundance and what it really meant to me.
Could abundance mean more of something like wealth, education, clients, or something a little deeper? I stepped away from all digital and sat with myself.
I journaled for days, and eventually, I landed that it was more about me being turned into a flow of wellness that allows my heart to be open to all possibilities. With the current situation that we are living in, many small businesses have been faced with a lack of income, especially when a bill appears in our inbox. My first reaction would be, “Sh$t, how am I going to pay for this?”. My anxious dreaded response would kick in as it was based on fear, a pattern I have been playing since our first lockdown. My inner self knew it would all be okay, and things will sort themselves out, but my anxiety and fear overpowered all of this.
Towards the latter part of November and December, I experienced a HUGE motion of anxiety that halted me from doing daily activities like going to the gym. I experienced this throughout the day and had no control over what I was feeling, how I was thinking and what I could be doing. My negative, moody, short-fused, anxious and worried thoughts attracted more of the same thing into my reality.
There I sat, after three weeks of researching all my symptoms and calling my doctor, to be told, “You really need to breathe and relax.” Recently, I read that money isn’t just energy; it’s a flow, an exchange of frequency, vibrational frequency, and the same goes for everything else in my life, like love, happiness, joy, and creativity.
To focus on my word abundance, I want to start focusing on what I am grateful for in this present moment. How I can actively express happiness, and what would I have to do to make it full.
The late Stephen Convey wrote a book about the seven habits of highly effective people. He defined the term simply as “a concept in which a person believes they are enough resources and successes to share with others.” My thought pattern clicked as it showcased that you need to consider all the possibilities of winning and all the possibilities of losing in any given situation, known as the scarcity mindset.
What have I done to start creating an abundance mindset for myself;
-
Recognize my thoughts; they are not who I am
-
Practising gratitude (daily)
-
Meditation (daily)
-
Reading – I just ordered 11 new books and have some on my wish list.
-
Cultivating and sharing my passion
-
Choosing to speak with positivity
-
Stop re-living the past and don’t plan for the future.
Steven Bartlett, who I am a huge fan of, has written some freaking awesome quotes (just waitlisted for his new book) that tell it like it is; here are some of my favourites:
“stop expecting honesty from people who lie to themselves.”
What is your word for 2021? I want to know and what you are focusing on…
